Coffee with Betty Beath and David Cox

Over the ANZAC weekend, I had the opportunity to meet with renowned Australian Composer, Betty Beath and her husband, talented writer, poet and artist David Cox.

It was lovely to speak to someone so humble about her career as a composer and how she balanced this with family, work, and personal goals. One of my burning questions were to find out if having children had a negative or positive impact on her career. I was happy to hear that it became an essential part of her foundation of who she was and her music. It became very clear how their support for each others artistic expression was integral, along side a trust in synchronicity and determination to share their art with many.

It was a lovely morning filled with wise words, and I look forward to the next opportunity I may have to meet with Betty and David again. In the meantime, with the composers' permission, I would like to share with you Betty Beaths' work Lament for Victims of War .

You can find more information on her works available at the Australian Music Centre here:
